This headstone had metal letters attached. I have never seen that before.
I suspect the askew headstones are from all the tossing and turning. Not much rest to be had here. The cemetery is right above busy Hwy 128.
Nature continually encroaches.

(19,459 posts)I stop there every once in a while. One space to park one car, and a small one at that.

(46,436 posts)I am such a fan of cemeteries. I must have taken a couple hundred cemetery pics when we were down in Southeast AK this summer. If you ever get up this way, visit the old cemetery in Sitka. It's fascinating.

(20,886 posts)I was sent off with tons of (free) film, and in turn I sent it back to them for (free) processing. So my parents saw my photos before I did. At one point I got a letter from my mother asking if I ever went anywhere other than cemeteries.

(1,771 posts)I've never seen metal letters used on stones that old. It could be that they added the letters later on after the original lettering faded away. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I really like the wider pic in #3 and the light and shadow you captured in #4 rocks. (I'm old. I can say things like 'rocks')

(20,886 posts)I saw a few other headstones with letters attached, and although I don't remember exact dates, they didn't appear to be as old.
