and by photo, I mean photos you have taken of a cat or cats. And by cat(s), I mean a photo of any animal.

(9,314 posts)Really nice shot.
I don't have any cats or pets at all but I have some wild critters that hang out around my house. Took this during the spring:
The one standing up moved just as I snapped the photo.
Solly Mack
(90,764 posts)We get deer out back but mostly at night. They drive my dogs crazy.
I hate it when the subject moves just as I snap. The cat did it a lot. He got tired of my interfering with his hunt and went back home.

Family pets don't live with me, and I don't have pics of them yet and I'm really sorry, because they include chickens! and dogs and cats and fishies!
Solly Mack
(90,764 posts)I get egrets and herons occasionally.
Hopefully you will get some photos of your family pets to share!

a Christmas dragon by GoDog for my dog and he is terrified of it! lol. I can't figure out why.
I put it in a chair where he sits and he jumped up and spent a good 5 minutes trying to bury it. He does that wherever it is. lol
Can someone tell me how to post pictures

Here's a handy link from this group (by CC). You can also find it pinned at the top of this forum.

That's funny about your doggie! I'd enjoy watching him bury his toy. lol!
I'll try it tomorrow. I'll try to get a video of him burying it. lol

(18,219 posts)I love my kitties.....some have departed, one is still here. I have posted the one photo that was beautifully done before, so here are some less than perfect ones.
Sasha. She has been gone a long time now. This was shortly before she left us and had to be cropped to remove the sores from her skin cancer.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/curmudgeoness/12275766763/|"" width="427" height="640" alt="083"></a>
And Pudding and Ashes, mom (gray) and son (black). They are also gone.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/curmudgeoness/5479861207/|"" width="640" height="481" alt="Ashes and Pudding"></a>
And now my current baby, Sammy. He was extremely upset about something, because his tail is not usually fluffed up, but then again, he is not an outdoor cat so who knows what he sensed.

I got them from the shelter, together with their mother, Rainbow, when they were 4 weeks old. That was last June. Does anyone need a kitty?

(4,588 posts)Our dear departed Bretty. He was a handsome boy and a classic tuxedo.
This is our very sweet & spry old teenager, Mimi. She thinks it is all about me-me.
This is Leo. Another handsome cat if I do say and a nice boy (mostly). He replaced Bretty and got along nicely with Mimi for a few years until one day he didn't. Now we have to keep them separate, playing musical cats all day .

(22,380 posts)I have never had a cat.
My Mom told me that when I was an almost newborn they attached my carriage behind their tandem bike as they were evacuating against the deep flying air attacks on German civilians in the last months of WWII.
She said the problem was always the bird cage with the canary.
She said as they hid in ditches when the planes went over them the cage was always put on top of me.
I actually only learned this a couple of years ago.
I think maybe I somehow remembered that.
Solly Mack
(90,764 posts)I 'annoyed' him away. He fussed at me as he was getting down from the tree. Even did the back leg shake at me.
I love cats. Used to have 2. Both lived to a ripe old age and died within a year of each other. Broke my heart.
What an interesting bit of history! Sounds terrifying though.
Mira
(22,380 posts)I was probably hungry.
Solly Mack
(90,764 posts)That wasn't my intentions. I was thinking about what you wrote and the images just flooded my brain. Those images gave rise to emotion.
No offense.
I get maudlin at times about some of the amazing things that comprise people's lives.
So I shared a tiny bit of mine.
I happen to know that you are familiar with German roads and ditches.
I priced canaries last week: 149 dollars each
No wonder I now have green singing finches.

my cat Garfield. I named him that because of his big eyes. lol
I'm new at posting pictures so I hope this works! What size should pictures be to post here?
Solly Mack
(90,764 posts)scrolling. But outside of the photo contests there is no size requirement.
KC
(1,995 posts)What size do you make yours? I saw a place on there to resize photos, but I don't have any idea what to put in the boxes lol I knew this one would be pretty big.
Thanks for your help!

Simba and Mouse. They have both crossed the Rainbow Bridge now and hopefully are together again
as they were great buddies in life. We got them as kittens from the same little old cat lady. They were
born to different litters several days apart, but raised as brothers. Mouse lived to be 14 and crossed
in 2009; Simba left us this past spring at age 17.

(5,562 posts)but the big torti always picks on the little black guy, often in very subtle ways. Like she'll figure out where he wants to be then she'll sit and block his passage. Then he starts pacing frantically back and forth until he gets the courage to race past her and then she hisses at him. Its really stupid.

(567 posts)Over the past 14 months I've lost four of my most senior cats aged 19 to 21 years old. One 18 year old male remains with me today recovering from a recent double surgery. My other younger and very healthy home cats I can enjoy yet but all but three were born between April '01 and August '02 and will now entering their senior years. While the cats were young I liked to photo record their development near monthly but had stopped photographing them when we started suffering the losses. I've been recently considering updating my old cameras with something newer with the priority looking to cat and nature macro photography. Hope to start-up with the photography work this coming spring season.
Here are a few pics of my current middle aged cats.

(90,764 posts)You have my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your older cats. 19 and 21 are long times for a cat to live. There was a lot of loving care. My calico was 18 and my tabby was 16 when they died several years ago. The tabby was a feral and still a young cat when I got him. My calico I had since she was a few weeks old. I hope to get another cat (or two) once we retire next year.
Your cats are gorgeous. I hope you do get back into your photography. Your photos are truly nice.
Thank you for sharing your family with us.

(8,039 posts)that came to live with us Feb. 11 before the latest snow storm. He came in, he took over and now rules. Will let him settle before we start making the dogs his subjects along with the other cats and people.
The little leggy Siamese now known as The Feisty Pharaoh Flame with 'Tude aka Pharaoh.
It was him that decided to pose in a way that made me think of the Siamese song in the photo that went into the contest.

(567 posts)Cats generally will not corporate with anything I do to get them to pose for a nice photo. I'm will ignore them and concentrate on posing fruit. Here's an example of a mature Pineapple.
And these little red bananas are good to work with.
Really like the coloring in the blood orange here.
Late in the season Acorn Squash take on the most beautiful colors.
Sorry, I can't keep the Cats away from my photo sets while I work with my sampling of fruits and vegetables.
Perhaps I can learn to photoshop them out of the picture later.
