Up here in the Northwest, we've had an extremely mild winter. In fact, I had been planning on returning to Leavenworth for the Bavarian Icefest to get more (and, hopefully, better) pictures of fireworks in the snow, but canceled a few days before when I checked out the webcams and realized there was no snow there at all.

And, for those of you from places to the east, who are probably already fuming while reading this because of what you've had to go through this winter, all I can say is: yes, our weather has made winter a lot more bearable in terms of survival, but pretty awful in terms of photographic potential.

We only need ten more for 30 - so as the host of this contest I'm gonna let it run one more day and end submissions tomorrow at 8pm EST - I'm in NYC - and however many we've got we'll move on to the prelims at that point.

While I may not be a stickler for rules this can't be an open ended submissions period either. The Submissions period ENDS tonight at 8pm PST. That's it folks however many we have at that point is when it will close and we move on to the prelims.

I once read a book called "A child's Garden of Grass" In it they quoted some fella with a bit of a habit as saying, "patience is a golden chariot bringing sunshine to a cold winter's morn" I had no practical use whatsoever for that quote until this moment.

47. Some of the photos might be scaring off

some that might of entered. They are going to make it very hard to vote too. I know I went a completely different way that I planned on because of some of the photos. Other people already had something entered too similar but way better or just way better and wasn't even going to attempt going in that direction. I'm really dreading the voting and might have to throw darts at titles to choose what I vote for.

several times in my mind because similar things were already there. All better, I must add. I have my distinct favorites at this time, and am awaiting the long anticipated 30th photo with baited breath and drumrolls.

because this has taken almost two weeks to get just 28 entries and one of those is mine. If I don't get those last two I will withdraw my photo to make the polls three even polls of 9 each. The submissions thread ENDS tomorrow period end of story. No more extensions, no more waiting that will be it.

So Sorry I didn't see this when you posted it. Then again we lost power with the wind so I probably would of poofed on you and freaked until whenever the power came back on.
