So much for my March contest pic.

Last edited Mon Apr 7, 2014, 03:37 AM - Edit history (1)

Dave Grohl Alley in Warren Ohio, the place of his birth, was vandalized Saturday morning. That was the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death FWIW.

Pointless destruction of dozens of artworks, including this one, my favorite. This was my entry in the street art contest. I know some of the artists and the person who put it all together, so I plan to help restore it if at all possible.

...and this is what it looks like today:

I think I'll post them all in GD tomorrow.

On edit:
I didn't mean he was born in the alley. hahaha

How cool it would be if you could help restore it.

It must be like seeing a friend attacked senselessly.

where that is in Warren, because I would enjoy seeing it....but I suppose it is too late for that. I did hear about this on the news. Last I heard, they still have no idea who did this. So petty....and the vandals aren't even very good at graffiti, are they?

The guy just set out to deface it. He apparently continued down the alley until the Krylon can ran empty.

There's a mural downtown nearby on the side of a bar with a deep ocean whale scene that a good friend of mine painted (huuuge tab). Someone came along a couple years ago and threw what looked like paint balloons at it. They restored it so quickly, I only recently heard about it. Hopefully, there's a way to fix this too, but I don't know.

I figured the psychopath who did this will either spend a lifetime behind bars, or work as a republican congressman dismantling the National Endowment For The Arts. Institutions for crimes against humanity either way.

On edit:
I just looked in the obits, and my friend who painted the whale mural died. Sad week for the local art scene.

Odd how that works, we are just talking about him, and you find out that he died. I have seen that whale mural. It is beautiful. I am sorry you lost a friend, and Warren lost a great artist.

I used to work in downtown Warren, but now only go there occasionally to eat at Buena Vista, so don't get to downtown.

I really enjoy finding street art--murals--and it's so sad to see the artwork
defaced like that.
