Same destination, different route, and this time I drove alone (with small paintings).
Knights Valley Vineyard
At Geyserville the Sculpture Trail starts.
And continues into Cloverdale.
This is called Drain Away, made from drain covers.
This one, called Listening, caused a bit of controversy. Can't imagine why.
This is the million dollar train station that sits empty and unused. A bit of controversy attached itself to that as well.
Cloverdale has some lovely historic houses. This one is part of the History Museum.
Just loved the color combo on this one
I did a bit of looking up.
And a bit of abstraction
just in case. Had I been on time for my appointment instead of waaay early, i would have missed the wonderful city park with four huge bar-b-que pits, table and benches for a large crowd and this wonderful, and wonderfully kept up, playground equipment.
And I even prepared for our next staircase theme.

(20,886 posts)My gallery owner said they had just sold (and removed) a huge wolf (or coyote) when I went up the first time. It was so big you could climb stairs up into it.
There are at least three of the walking men on the way into town. I love the couch at the top.

(90,795 posts)I love art displayed like that - just out there and in unexpected places sometimes.

(20,886 posts)Cloverdale is doing some really good stuff for the art scene. In addition to the sculpture trail, they close a couple of blocks of the main street and do an art walk every Friday. It's a little off the beaten path, but they're doing a good job of making it a go-to place. I really like this little town.

(90,795 posts)It was private property (Kempf family) when I lived there but you could still see the artwork if you got close enough.
I always thought it a shame not being opened to the public.
I've heard that the works were moved to several other locations over the years. I lived there in the early 90's.
The kinetic sculptures were just awesome.

(22,380 posts)My favorites: the bucolic but "busy working" landscape - the first one
the house with the flowers
and the stairway just sings.
Thank you very much for posting these.
editing to say that I looked that first one over again. It's a dream.
What I meant by "busy" is that it's gorgeous, rolling, bucolic, but also productive with the vineyards.

(46,436 posts)Northern California is so gorgeous in the springtime. I have a friend who lives in Cloverdale. It seems like a nice little town.
I asked my gallery gal how people earned a living. Lumber and grapes, or you retire there. If only I could afford to retire.
I was really impressed with the city park. It was so well kept and clean. It catered to all age groups with sports fields, toddler equipment and bar-b-que space.
Tell your friend to go to The Artful Eye and tell Pat she heard about it from DU (sort of).

(20,886 posts)There are some great paintings by a Napa Valley artist now on display. Lots of other good stuff, too.
