This moose was walking right down the middle of the trail, so we stepped aside for a second while he stepped off to have a snack. This was with the 17-40 lens, so you can see how close he was. Yuuko remained amazingly calm.

Everyone was just out for a stroll, I guess. Was your heart beating a little fast being that close? Mine would be.

(46,436 posts)unless they're mothers with new calves. We see them pretty often on our walks but not usually this close.
One time I was walking along a different part of this trail alone and came upon a big bull moose and a female in the middle of the trail, and that did concern me a little because I didn't know if they had a "thing" going on or if they were just brother and sister hanging out. I just stepped off the trail a little and waited them out. They were in no hurry; I think I was there about 20 minutes before they moved on and let me pass.
