I wish I had some lovely places like these near me...

That last one is quite different and I love it!

Lucky you!

And thank you for sharing all this beauty with us...

I'm fortunate to have been able to travel over the last few years. These were take on a trip through the Southeast a couple years ago. There is some beautiful country down there.

My favorite is the 5th one. But they are all beautiful. Reminds me of Oregon, similar but oh so different!

There are beautiful waterfalls scattered all through the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you've not yet done so, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive are definitely worth your time. And it can be quite lush, as can Oregon.

We love Oregon. My in-laws live in southern Oregon in between Selma and Kirby and I lived at the northern end of the Willamette Valley for a couple of years, close to Amity. Beautiful country!

And I loves me some Umpqua Strawberry Ice Cream.

We were really taken by the beauty of some of the areas in the Southeast, especially in the Carolina's and Virginia.

love the photos and as I have been incredibly fortunate to have traveled there (numerous times) I second the wonder of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Parkway!

and work our way up to Maine.

Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire are on our route to get there. Not sure of the dates yet.

Those are beautiful. Makes me want to go back there and battle the humidity and bugs just to see wet stuff falling over rocks.

We took the last two weeks of May, 2012 for the drive. Weather was gorgeous, it only rained three times, all at night, and just enough for us to enjoy some real toad-stranglers accompanied by some impressive thunder and lightening (which, as you know, is rare in our neck of the woods).

The only place we faced any real bugs and humidity was down in coastal South Carolina.

Every time we go back east I am always impressed by the lush countryside.

The second photo was actually taken at Stone Mountain, Virginia (Widows Creek Falls). Not to be confused with Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The last two were taken at Linville Falls, North Carolina.

The others were taken in the Grandfather Mountain area of North Carolina.

Pretty sure Stone Mountain and Grandfather Mountain areas get snow, but not sure about Linville Falls area.
