Related: About this forumPlaying with new lens - our adopted stray cat was my only willing subject
I got a new lens a couple of weeks ago and haven't had much time to play with it yet. Decided to see what I could do with it yesterday and our stray cat who adopted us last year was my only willing model.

(18,219 posts)That cat does not look much like a "stray". It is lovely and looks to be very well cared for.

(153,160 posts)you've captured a really special look there - a kind of quiet dignity - would love to hear more about that cat

(11,518 posts)She just showed up here one day and was skin and bones. We took her to the vet to get checked out, they said she appeared to be around 6 years old. She's absolutely the sweetest cat I've ever met, she mostly lives outdoors and has definitely been eating well since she found us.

(26,044 posts)Her face isn't flat enough. I'd guess more a Turkish Angora or, if she's really big, possibly a Maine Coon. Also, her coat seems to have some orange-brown texturing in it, which would make her a dilute tortoiseshell rather than pure gray.

(9,126 posts)What's the lens and camera? 85mm? It must be fast because I can never get still shots of that wide open with my cats. Gorgeous bokeh and creamy colors. These shots are worth sharing.

(11,518 posts)And camera is a Canon T4i. These photos were shot at f2.8, 1/500 sec, ISO 400, and 200 mm. I wanted to see what the lens would do at full zoom and wide open, so far I'm impressed.

(9,126 posts)I haven't looked into the Tamron, but now it is very intriguing. I've been lusting after a Zeiss, but my wallet screamed at me. I have a Canon too, but I'm on the fence about some of their lenses. I shoot movies on the 5D, so we rent Zeiss because they have proper focus rings. But my dream is to some day stumble upon a full set of Cooke S3 and love them like my children.
Keep sharing your photos!

(7,347 posts)Your lens seems to be working out just fine so far - the textures of her fur are nice and sharp, I can almost feel its softness.
