That is so cool, I love the fact that the balcony is rounded. Is there a tiny bit of brown in this black and white? I love the shading on the photo. At least it looks like there is a tinge of brown in it, without going over into sepia. It's so subtle that I am not sure.

I've been in the mode of trying to look around at quirky things I can see when I am out and about. I do have a Buddha photo that is not as artistic as your wonderful photo, but it is pretty funny, because you just don't see big Buddhas surrounded by picket fences very much. I think neighbors protested this but it is within code.

That is one BIG ass Buddha I can see why some neighbors were a little out of sorts.

I did slightly sepia tone the image. Funny thing is the iron on the balcony is brown in the color version. I like walking around Manhattan and seeing what I can find. On that same stretch of B'way I looked up and saw stone owl decorations on one building. Funny how you can walk the same street for YEARS and then one day you actually pay attention when you look up and see something for the first time.

And I promise I will steal that idea from you sometime.

I happen to really like the big Buddha, but, I would probably feel differently if it was next door! This is the bible belt and I think the people that go to the Methodist church down the street were a bit out of sorts about it.

My favorite photographer here does street photography, but it isn't down and out, really. It is just..............funny, mostly. And he puts the greatest titles on his stuff. I'm really in awe of the guy, who is completely self taught and now does nothing but film, supposedly. I probably ought to buy some of his stuff because maybe he will catch on. But he looks around and sees humor and irony in the same things that I pass by, without any notice. I am trying to retrain my eye, to catch strange signs, for instance, or a tree breaking up a sidewalk, or he just notices EVERYTHING. I notice.............birds.

I took a Buddha picture myself within the last couple of days. This is our garden Buddha emerging from the 134 inches of snow we had this year.

I call it "Buddha Rising"

especially considering how buried Buddha was this year. There was so much snow that we couldn't even tell where it was until just a few days ago.
