Just returned from a two week stay in Paris, where we were performing a 17th century Italian opera called "La Didone". The weather was terrible most of the time, so I didn't take many pictures.
I did get a few shots of the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, the famous theater where, as the story goes, a riot broke out after the first performance of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring".

(14,889 posts)you clearly captured the enormity of the concert hall.
My favorite photo is the third one with the viola (?) and mandolin (?). It gives that quiet intimacy that few see and feel.

(7,392 posts)Actually, as halls go, it's not that enormous, though, at 1900 seats, it's big enough.
The instruments in the third shot are a double bass and a big, long-necked lute, called a "theorbo". The theorbo is what I play. This is a painting of a lady playing one.

(14,889 posts)I too truly enjoy taking photos of our students instruments . . . performances.

(14,889 posts)the instrument selection, but clearly stand corrected.
Although you say at 1,900 capacity that you experience a small hall, ours is 1,448 (yes odd number), but proves to be a very intimate and most engaging space.
