I'm creating a poll for May photo contest ideas. Since I'm a relative "newcomer" to the group, I don't know what all has been done in the past, so hopefully, if any ideas in the poll have been done, you can pick something that hasn't.
The poll will be up for a week and then I'll start accepting blind submissions.
Thanks all!

Thanks.
You have guts out the gate with a contest that has blind submissions. I look forward to all of it.

Mira
(22,380 posts)to me they are harder in so far that they make for extra work.
To really do it well and truly blind you have to send (the proper words fail me so please just play along) each photo to your own up-loader and then get a new image source code, so that the original source code which often times includes a person's name disappears.
Then, when it's all said and done (you don't have to but it would be kind and nice) you need to disclose the names of at least the 10 finalists, if not all 30 entries to all of us who are curious and who will have been guessing at who's who.
In my opinion, and I could be forgetting someone of course, Solly Mack does the best job of hosting a blind contest.

(14,040 posts)BTW, thanks for the great tips on the blind contest flow.

(46,436 posts)both as a participant and a host. It's true there are a couple extra steps, but I like the mystery and suspense.
Mira
(22,380 posts)As Blue_in_AK indicates it's only (a little bit more of) a piece of cake.
I like the blind contests, because I hate the open voting, and blind entries are our only way to push back a little bit.

(1,771 posts)One thing on blind submissions; if you use the original link that someone provides you a simple right click on the image will usually disclose the person and their photo. Not so blind then. Just saying.
Belated congrats on your April photo. It was well deserved.

(14,040 posts)Mira told me the trick to get around that and I will use it.

(60,074 posts)Try it with this image.

(1,771 posts)The problem I was having with Flickr is that my 800 res image got downsized to 640 every time I tried to post it. Maybe they are outsourcing the other 160 res. I just know in the past that most use photobarrel and a name or username is included.
By the by, great photo. Love the contrast and light key differences.

(60,074 posts)Thanks. I wasn't sure about that image, but it's growing on me.

(1,771 posts)But I don't want to start one of those notorious 'tied' photography polls.

1. A Camera
2. A solid place to put it or a tripod
3. A remote shutter release or a self timer
Give it a try!
