People here with Photography Facebook Pages

I could put those in our locked thread too. At first I didn't want everyone to have more than one page in our locked thread, but with everyone starting to get Facebook pages for their photography, I think it would be a good idea to have the Facebook pages in the thread, too. I would put it right next to the photo site, eg.

Celebration Fotofilings (Facebook Page) (and both would be links)
and on down the list..........

Except I don't have a photography Facebook page, but you get the idea.

If you would like your Photography Facebook page linked in the locked thread, just post it below. I'll pin this thread in a couple of days, and probably act on it in a couple of weeks, if we get enough interest. Maybe some people will be encouraged to get a photography Facebook page just from this thread. If you think you don't think you would get liked by enough people, I think you are wrong. I assume everyone here would like everyone else's pages. I think I have, but I am not altogether sure, so I want the list myself.

If you don't have a Facebook page, but have a blog and a photosite, we could link those two instead. I am going to set the limit at two links per person. It was one. That's all I am saying, really. i just got a bit long winded (which is why I have a blog, LOL).

How does that sound?

I have one but have to put things back on it. Only have one because twice now people have tried to set one up using an email address I have. Don't know why they can't just use their own. Second one had long enough to dump everything before I found out so going to have to get active. with it.

Honestly the nefarious stuff that goes on, for no apparent reason..............

I'm not sure I followed the details of what happened, but I got the "twice now people have tried to set one up using an email address I have." Sheesh.

You need to do whatever you can to secure operations!

I only get boring things like malware.

2. Facebook

For awhile there were those that said beware of Facebook, because the terms were bad, and people could legally steal photos (????)

1. Does anyone here have major issues with Facebook copyright issues?

2. Are the size of the photos uploaded to Facebook large? It seemed to me that they resize them smaller now, but I'm not sure.

3. Even if they resize them smaller (or you do) isn't there software that can be bought now that boosts the size of photos so that almost any photo can be printed? I saw some software that did that, I *think*, and really thought it was a good idea. Especially when I shoot bords or animals, sometimes I only want 1/4 of the photo in the photo, but a larger enlargement. If this kind of software does exist, and work, then copyright issues are more important than ordinarily. I'm just throwing this out there, because I don't really know.

4. The good thing about Facebook pages is that it is simple for people to "like" them, and get the message out. I love it when the photography sites I *like* have an update. With blogs, nobody wants to join them, generally, so a Facebook photography page is a good idea. I'm thinking about getting one, but not sure if I will take the plunge or not. If I got one, for the most part I just point people to the blog. The bad part about a Facebook page is that visually they are pretty much of a mess with all the ads.

These are just some issues, pro and con, about using Facebook for your photography.

someone would use my email address to try to set up a FB page. That is how I got on the thing in the first place. I took the page over since they decided my email should be tied to it. (And they had rude crap on it.) This second one I think they wanted the name and thought they would get it that way. Not sure since they haven't said anything. Right now I have it locked down until I am sure it is alright. Then need to upload stuff again.

Answers IMHO

I read their TOS and limit what I post to a point and post smaller photos.

Not sure about the software you are talking about but hard for me to see a great print from a small photo that was pushed very far.

It is a good place to get your work out there and get it shared. I like being able to share stuff and slowly getting more photographers on my personal FB. I love being able to see how people work around the world. Can't you link FB to a blog? Not sure since I don't have a blog. I would be a failure at the blog thing as it mean typing and regular updates.

I originally wasn't going to get political on FB but I was driven to it after seeing dumb people forward lies and crap. It got to where I just couldn't help but be a smart ass and question/comment on them.

Edit because I am a dyslexic typist.

I have no knowledge about this, so this isn't a recommendation or anything, but I run across different things like this--

http://www.mindseyeinc.com/articles/pcjournal062000.htm

re: boosting pixels to be able to make bigger prints from smaller photos. I am coming to the belief now that having fancy cameras is less important than having good software. Not that I have either, but I am inclined to upgrade software before upgrading a camera.

Some people might be able to link Facebook pages from blogs, or they could put it in their profiles, probably, from Flickr. I still think it is a good idea to have two links for each person in the pinned thread, if people want that. Honestly, I would click on all of them and like them all very easily, but I might not if I had to go through all the other pages. I don't have a Facebook page for photography. I just have a regular one, and I post updates from my blog there. But I am thinking about having a separate Facebook page, because I bet most of my "friends" are tired of my updates. Most people don't care about adding their names to blogs.

I guess you can change your password and the person would not have access to that Facebook account anymore? That is the strangest thing...............

I'm getting ready to go out of town for awhile and probably won't be posting for awhile. I'll let you decide whether to pin this thread. Not sure yet if people think adding Facebook pages to the pinned thread is a good idea or not.

I think we would have an opportunity to promote our Facebook pages to the broader DU community then, if we started a thread pointing to the pinned thread. Obviously it is up to everyone here.

password is changed and a hard one, same for email and I get an email if anyone including me tries to sign in from anything but my pc. Just want to be sure they've give up. Since they are from the other side of the world & English is not their first language they may not of been trying to be a jerk on purpose. Just would suggest not leaving a page idle for long.

I wondered if you could connect the blog to your FB but definitely have both posted in the thread here. Was thinking then if you blog it would automatically update FB for you.

Good software can be very important and even more important the knowledge of how to use it. I guess eventually they will find something that add pixels with out blurring a noise no matter how big you go. Just thinking a photo that is even 400 x 300 is not going to blow up into a decent 8x10 just yet.

Have a safe trip and a good time.

Mine is blogspot which is Google, and Google and Facebook aren't too lovey dovey, so there isn't an automatic "share with Facebook" thingy. But it could be that other blog hosts have an update through Facebook feature. But it's not that much trouble to go over to Facebook and post a link. Photography is a rather big interest of mine, but I would not call it my main interest, so I want to make sure I don't get in over my head with stuff to do.

I love having the posted thread at the top of the group. If I get five or more people with photography Facebook pages that respond here, I'll add those pages and put them beside their photo website above. If not, I'll just assume people don't think it's a good idea for some reason.

I'll see everyone here in a week or two.
