*** June Contest Topic: SKIES *** BLIND SUBMISSIONS ***

I've decided that the theme for June will be Skies.
I thought I'd post that before the eclipse in case anyone wanted to attempt that as their entry. Of course, "Skies" also includes sunset, sun rise, night skies, star trails, moon shots, clouds, storms, objects/vehicles/insects/animals/other flying in the skies (as long as the sky is the main focus), or perhaps a less literal interpretation.

The rough schedule will be as follows:

Entries begin May 29 12:01 AM PST and will run for a week. Submissions will be blind so send them to me. I will post a thread containing the entries received so far, in the order in which they were received. Each evening (as I have to work during the day), I will update the entry thread to reflect the entries received. If you have entered and wish to change the title, link, and/or photo, email me before submissions close and I will update your entry accordingly. If more than 30 entries are received, only the first thirty will be accepted.

Preliminary round will run from Thursday June 7 (at about midnight - so it'll be late Wednesday Pacific time) and run for three days (until the end of Saturday). Finals will begin on Sunday shortly after midnight EST (delay between the end of the prelims and the finals will depend on how fast I can put together the post). Finals will run for three days.

As always, submissions should be 800 pixels on the longest side and be 250 kb or less.

The above details are subject to change. I'll post an official message with all the details prior to submissions opening.

If anyone has any problems or concerns with the intended schedule or other details, please let me know.


Side note for anyone who's been on DU for a long time or is just curious: "Sky" was a previous topic but was done 5 years ago (April 2007). The closest to this topic since then has been "Storms" (April 2010).

And I am thinking that after 2 years a theme should be allowed to repeat unless we suddenly get lazy and start repeating them all instead of coming up with new ideas. It was one thing when we just started but after so long it gets harder to not repeat.
