(90,793 posts)I used a point and shoot on the bee fly. A Panasonic DMC-ZS7.
I also use a Nikon 3100 w/ 18-55 , 55-200 lenses. It's in the shop right now.

(18,219 posts)The Panasonic, does it have a viewfinder, or just the screen? I find that the screens are next to impossible to use outside unless the light is just right.
So sorry your Nikon is in the shop, but you are getting great photos anyways. The Panasonic is no slouch.

(36,827 posts)Even though it's not what Nikon considers a "micro" lens, it still does a really good job for tasks like these.
I'm surprised you were able to get that much detail out of the DMC-ZS7. It must also have pretty good close-up abilities.

(90,793 posts)When I don't want to change out lenses out in the field I take the ZS7 along.
I really like the 18-55 for just the reason you state.
