If you have not already done so, download a PDF version of the user guide from NikonUSA.com.
You may not read it any more than the paper version, but the PDF version is much easier to search through.
(Do they even come with a printed manual any more?)

3. Remember, when you go from the warm inside to the cold outside, let it acclimate first.

Let it warm up slowly outside its case (if you have one) when you return.

If you shoot in very cold weather, the battery will run down quickly. Get a fast SD card. You won't need anything over 8 gigs.

Sorry won't take Full Moon with it this month.

TRYING to figure how to transfer it's pics to FB and PhotoBucket, as I don't have a 'smart phone' or anything else 'fancy,' which is why I've so enjoyed my samsung galaxy; it sends pics DIRECT (when wifi's around, which it always does with me; have my own wifi.)

I DO have a case.

5. You need a card reader to get the photos onto your computer.

Directly connecting the camera to the computer is asking for trouble in the long term. Card readers are faster in the transfer, far less error prone, require no special device drivers, and do not drain the camera battery.

Once you get the images onto the computer, you can then use software to process them so that they look better. Then you upload them to where ever.

It might seem overwhelming at first, but maybe setting the camera to auto to just get used to handling the camera.
