I can never get decent pics of any lights at night. Of course, I've been just using my phone's camera for a few years now, and I've never even looked at the settings. Nor did I look at them much on my previous stand alone cameras.

Still, I'm curious about what sort of camera and the settings you used for this.

This is the first picture of a planet that worked for me (sort of). There's a little clock to the left of the screen that gave me a choice of off, 3s or 10s.

Btw, this inspired me to have a look at the setting options on my Galaxy S8, but I'm going to need to read more about what's what and try to do more with the settings.

The manual mode in this phone allows you to adjust the settings of the camera such as the shutter speed, ISO, white balance, focusing mode and exposure compensation. By playing with these settings you can capture creative photos such as long exposures and light trails, which otherwise would not be possible using the automatic mode.

I had the phone pointed a little up. Leaned back at little and kept my arms against my body. The phone counted down the 10 seconds. I'm guessing there is some software that lines up the images.

I haven't read the manual either - that's kind of taboo in my industry (computers). Maybe I should.

computer tech at the school where I used to teach. And I learned 90% of what I knew just by acting on my curiosity & clicking around and trying things. For any major problems, I got help from various online forums.

Phones, on the other hand, I know comparatively very little. Probably because I still prefer to do most of my "computing" on my pc. I like to multitask and work with a large screen.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the photo & answering my queries!
