(149,703 posts)I don't know the yucca plant very well, so you could be right. I just thought it was beautiful.

You did a gorgeous portrait of it, for sure! Very stunning!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)Glad you like it. Me, too.

(8,310 posts)I think yucca, too. Though aloe has little pointy edges like that,as well. Fatter leaves but maybe that one's just thirsty.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)It may well be thirsty! After all, you can't drink the tar.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)But the leaves are MUCH thicker/stiffer, and the points are freaking needles.
I'm not remotely kidding in saying if someone pushed you over onto one there's a high probability you'd die due to being run through with the equivalent of 10-20 ice picks.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)Good thing I stayed back.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)pointy, and they are STIFF, as is the whole blade of the leaves.
F***ers are scary, I walk well clear when I see 'em lol ...

(149,703 posts)Somehow, the scalloped edges of the agave yucca look worse than the ones with the straight edges!
I'd steer clear of 'em too!

CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)I think you are most likely correct about the desert and pain.
BTW, thanks for the rec, Andy.

It has cut me more than once
.
Thx for the pics Peggy.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)Glad you enjoyed the photo.
I can bet it cut you! I prefer living with non-carnivorous plants!

(51,627 posts)I cut a leaf off and use the gooey stuff to heal burns. They even sell the leaves in the produce section at my Ralphs market. Aloe leaves are a little bit more wide and thick than this particular photo.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)The Aloe has thicker leaves and I don't think there are any spines. Not sure, though.
Anyway, thanks for coming by and having a look!
