(205,320 posts)I grew up with a cocker spaniel since my Dad did and have had 4 in my life. I've adopted senior dogs. Two of them have lived past 18. When I lost my Barney, adopted him at age 10 or 11 and had him for 8 years, I thought my other cocker was lonesome, so I called about a 8-year-old cocker, but that dog had been placed, so I was told about a 9-year-old Brussels Griffon whose owner had died. I adopted him and when a vet tech who worked for my vet was helping to foster a Brussels Griffon puppy, she knew my dog so she contacted me. I've had Jack since he was 5 months old, he's now 15.

(5,420 posts)I think adopting senior dogs is a wonderful thing to do. Benefits for both dog and human. Do you have photos of any other of your dogs?

(205,320 posts)They really hit it off on the very first day, I adopted Sheena since her owner had died, too. And this was the first photo I ever posted on DU, another DUer helped me.
And here's my Barney:

(5,420 posts)I love the names you chose. I grinned and chuckled at Barney's photo. I wonder, when you adopted Sheena after her owner passed away did it take some time for Sheena to bond with you? Did she appear to miss her former owner? Jack's puppy picture is awesome!
