In "Law & Order: Special Victims" a suspect's picture was released to the public and a mob beat a man to within an inch of his life. Turned out he was not the guy, and barely even looked like the man in the picture. Somebody thought he was the guy, and the "wisdom of the crowd" almost killed an innocent man.

I liked this show better than I thought I would, but its basic premise is extraordinarily weak. The very name "wisdom of the crowd" is oxymoronic. Information you get from masses of people is almost certain to be wrong.

In 2003, 67% of the American public thought that Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons and was involved in 9/11.

To determine the IQ of a group, take the IQ of the person in the group with the lowest IQ and divide it by the number of people in the group.

But truthfully... who wouldn't want that app?

I wonder if they will do an episode with the wrong person being ID'd. That would be a good premise.

He built the system so that he could have "the crowd" solve the crime he assigned for them to solve. They did not solve that crime, but diverted the police to a different crime that they did not even know about and were not working on solving. The episode ended with them no closer to solving the crime that the protagonist had set out to solve.

So what you have is "the crowd" running around as a bunch of uncontrolled vigilantes, solving crimes the cops don't even know about. That's a good thing? And at the end, hundreds of people with cell phones are surrounding the criminal, and not one of them attacks him? They all stand quietly pointing their cell phones at a rapist and waiting for the cops to show up? Oh, sure, that will happen.

And pigs will fly, but not in my lifetime.

I guess if they solved the original crime (his daughter's death) during the first episode, there wouldn't be subsequent episodes! They have to keep it going.

I think it's an interesting show so far though.

The acting is good, and I like most of the actors. It's an enjoyable watch.

But in episode two, the "wisdom of the crowd" knows where a lost kid is in the woods to within a few feet? Give me a break.
