1. I'm am going to miss this show terribly when it is over

2. I actually just got into it recently. I watched back episodes from Netflix and Amazon.

I never thought I'd enjoy a drug-and-gun macho show, but it's so much more than that. I actually hate the gun and drug part, but the desperation and ego part is fascinating. I've become emotionally invested in the characters.

I must admit, I was sorry to see Gus go. He was so compelling. But he went out with a bang.

As for last night:
"Because I said so."
"I forgive you."

Wow!

I'm guessing Walt will have to kill (or have Jesse kill) whatshisname--the brother-in-law.

3. so glad the show is back

I agree - it's really much more than a show about drugs and guns.

The entire premise is an indictment of our system - but it's also about one person's pride and bad choices, too.

I also love the way the characters go through so many changes along the way - not just Walt - though his changes are the most severe and notable.

The cinematography is stunning - the editing - the storytelling device in season 2 (which it looks like they're doing this season, in another way) was such a great payoff for the question of... why are we seeing this.. I love that there was no way to be able to figure it out as the season went along - but once you knew - I assume that's going to be the case this season, too.

I love the way the show carries through what seem like toss off moments in one season to pay off in another. It's really worth it to rewatch as one big story because you catch things from earlier that make sense later.

I don't think Walt is going to stay so cocky for very long.

4. I was telling a friend about the cinematography, too. It truly is stunning.

I'm so glad it's not one of those ADD-edited jobs or full of those walk-fast, talk-fast scenes. This show displays real art. Love the yellow desert scenes and artsy angles.

I was also telling her how it was an indictment of our healthcare system. It's also an indictment of our economy/trade agreements.

And I agree. Walt will get his comeuppance, but I don't think it'll last for long. He'll end up being Don Corleone. Or Jesse will be Tuco and Walt will be the old man in the wheelchair. Bwahahahaha!

It's beautiful the way Skyler has accepted it all. There are no saints in this show. Love that!

And I absolutely ADORE the sleazy lawyer. He's splendiferous!

5. Saul is one of my favorite characters too

Anna Gunn has a "thankless" role - I used to sometimes read comments at the AV club but stopped b/c so many guys just reamed on her, as an actress and a character. I thought they had mommie issues.

But she has done a great job - she starts out as disconnected as Walt - that birthday "sex scene" in the 1st season... oh, that was sad. She has so many cringe-worthy moments that are just great - intentionally cringe-worthy great.

She wasn't given a choice about things either - except for the coin flip moment. Her sense of betrayal - now fear - I wonder what's up for her in the future. I'm worried too.

The Ted situation - I didn't have that one right - and I don't think it's all played out yet.

And, yeah, although the show isn't overtly political - it really does get into the way our system is set up for winner take all - and people who do the thankless jobs - like teach - are regularly screwn. The show does a really good job of setting up how life is been so unfair to Walt early on - so initially we get satisfaction from him finally feeling like he's not the victim.

6. I haven't read any spoilers for the season yet

But I'm wondering what a satisfactory ending would be, if that is even possible.

I know that they'll surprise us, no matter what we think we can come up with. But I'm trying to prepare.

Let's post our best and worst scenarios for how the series ends. Right now I don't even have an idea, but I'll start thinking about it. I liked the one upthread about Walt and Jesse becoming those other characters. Or maybe a new high school chemistry teacher gets into the picture?

7. Traditional Hollywood would make Walt, Jesse, and even Skyler pay for their sins.

Death, prison, whatever.

So an anti-Hollywood ending would have them rewarded. Just like in real life.

8. Questions, spoilers

One thing about last night's episode is still bothering me.

While at the junkyard, they were talking openly about their purpose for the magnet, in front of the junkyard boys.

That seems awfully sloppy for Walt and Mike, no?

Does this come back to haunt them, or do we find out in a later episode that those guys met an untimely end?

9. Those junkyard boys looked as bright as teabaggers to me. I don't think

they're a threat.

I think Hank (?, the bro-in-law) will be a threat (the video) and Walt will have him whacked. But he'll go out a hero. Ted the human scaffolding will be a threat, too.

It may end with Walt a crazed druglord and Jesse bumping him off. And the last frame of the show will be Jesse putting the pistol into his mouth, but we'll never know. Of course, this is the exact opposite of what I put in another post. I want to be surprised and have no clue now.

It seems like I'm not the only one who has noticed some people's inability to deal with a flawed female character - whose flaws are far less repugnant than anything her husband has done.

16. I don't understand that. I think Gunn is terrific and Skyler is trying to make the

best of a bad situation. Of course, she may have a breakdown. She may even kill/try to kill Walt to protect her family. Or she might become a junkie--wouldn't that be a hoot!
