Related: About this forumAnyone watch "Sleepy Hollow"?
I thought it was one of the best premieres I have ever seen. Usually, it takes a few episodes to set up the situation, or the first show is so jammed packed with info it is unintelligible. I think they hit a good balance. I think it will be a good show and has promise.

It reminded me a bit of The Da Vinci's Demons (on Starz), which I like a lot. I think it was Ichabod's smartass attitude (which pleasantly surprised me!) combined with the supernatural mystery elements that made me think of that show. It kept me interested the entire hour, the dialogue didn't make me groan, and the characters were interesting. It's dark, but it's a lighthearted darkness. I think it has potential, too -- at least for something that will be fun and not so serious.
(I was disappointed to see Clancy Brown and John Cho disappear so quickly, though!)

(1,353 posts)Thought the cast had a good energy and chemistry. I liked the way it took the "Founding Fathers were Masons" idea and sent it down a new occult alleyway. I am even willing to forgive the fact that they are apparently going to go with the idea of accused witches being burned at stakes in Colonial and Early America, which did not happen. Dramatic license and all that, but I do think getting hanged by being turned off a ladder and slowly strangled to death is drama enough.
But for crying out loud, STOP having Ichabod Crane speak in modern US English! I realize the character could not speak with a full-on Colonial-era dialect and vocabulary because the majority of the audience would not understand it. OK. But every time a Tom Mison said a contraction I wanted to throw something. It pulled me out of the scene. That is not how a well-educated man of that era spoke. And why did he not freak out at the cars? And know what a "mental institution" is? Crane probably would have thought it was a kind of school or university, not a place for the holding of the "distempered" or "lunatic" as they were called in 1781.
I know it seems like I am complaining about a tiny point, but it really did decrease my enjoyment of some scenes, and it would be a simple thing for the writers to fix.

(21,755 posts)I am sure I did not watch it last night but... I could swear I watched this show a number of months back... About a week or so ago I went to look for the rest of the season (thinking it had already aired) and was surprised to see it had not started. So... I have no freakin idea what I watched. I do want to see it though, I like the idea of the premise and want to see how they play it out.

(8,692 posts)I watch Grimm, Supernatural and Haven and he just can't get into them. I'm glad we have a scary/scifi show we can finally watch together.

(53,955 posts)We don't watch "Haven," but do watch the other two and will check out "Dracula", "Coven", and, on Lifetime starting Sunday, October 6th, "Witches of East End." We also watched the Netflix series "Hemlock Grove." For shits and giggles, and a nice homoerotic charge, we also enjoy, "Teen Wolf" on MTv.
Check out the cool promo I found for "Coven" in the thread here in the TV Group.
