Who else had a sick, sad feeling that that was the way it was going to end the minute she had him take the gun from her?

(28,394 posts)I thought the first episode was promising, but the story was so dismal and none of the characters was even slightly likable. I kept watching but couldn't wait for it to be put out of its misery. I don't even know what the token Hispanic family had to do with the murder, except for the kid lending someone his car. Did they even say who murdered Mark (or was it Matt?)? And what did Hector have to do with anything? Maybe it was just all over my head. LOL
The series has been renewed for next year. I am wondering if they will create a whole new murder case to follow as this one seems to have no where else to go.

(68,918 posts)Aubrey confessed to the murders and knew things only the murderer would know, so she was the true murderer.
The kid lending someone his car and getting in massive amounts of trouble was (in my opinion) an attempt to show how badly people of color and presumed immigrants are treated in this country--but that's me.
Hector simply borrowed a car from the kid. I do think the whole trial in Mexico thing didn't need to end, and I didn't like the way the whole series ended with him in midsentence.
I think Felicity Huffman was freaking incredible.

(4,178 posts)I thought Aubrey might have been covering for her boyfriend and he told her the things she knew.

(68,918 posts)I really think they could have fleshed out Aubrey's issues a little better.

(31,230 posts)though I was disappointed to see the script take that turn. Seemed so unreal and forced.
I was disappointed with the series. Despite some fresh production techniques (especially in editing) and some solid performances, the storyline felt trite and patronizing. Well, it is ABC Studio Productions. Several of their shows feel this way.

(68,918 posts)They didn't do the best job of fleshing out a couple of the characters, and I think the series could have used about 4 more episodes to explain why some things/people were the way they were.

(1,805 posts)It really showed a microcosm of what is now going on in the US. I liked that the finale started with forgiveness and ended with hope for Hector. Oh, this is odd, I read that the show has been renewed for next season, starring Felicity Huffman and......Timothy Hutton. Now that should be a good trick!

(68,918 posts)series. Each season will feature another crime in another town with different characters who may be played by the same actors from the season before. Think American Horror Story here. The news of the contract reups broke last week. I don't need to Google more. See previous posts about it in this thread. This has been one of my favorite shows.
