Criminal Minds Question - SPOILER ALERT

Regarding last night's episode with Danny Glover - can someone explain to me WHY Derek was abducted? I think I missed a minute or two of the entire episode and didn't understand that part.

Thanks.

My wife and I watched the entire episode, and after the ending, turned to each other and said, WTF? The writing on the show is really going down the tubes (IMHO). Maybe it will be explained on some later episode, after we no longer care.

I think they'll readdress the reason behind the abduction somewhere down the line. But I don't like that sort of thing. I agree that the writing is going south.

Maybe it will be; maybe it won't. I haven't liked the writing lately on this show, but I kind of like that they tried something different. They tried to give it all to us primarily from Derek's POV. Not saying they nailed it, but it was an interesting experiment and at least tried something more than the "criminal of the day" formula.

I'm just one of those that needs to know "why". LOL

I would like to see the show do more to let the audience in on the personal lives of all of the characters.

It seems it was Morgan's turn for traumatic physical abuse. Early on, Spencer Reed was tortured and addicted to heroine, Penelope was shot, Hotch was stabbed multiple times, JJ was tortured in Afghanistan, Prentiss was tortured by that IRA guy, etc. Similar situation, different BAU member, artsy attempt.
