PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The host of one of the longest-running, daily, locally produced children's television shows in American broadcasting has died in Phoenix.
Bill Thompson was 82. His son told CBS 5 News late Wednesday afternoon that Thompson had been in the hospital for a couple of days.

Film director Steven Spielberg grew up watching the show. It inspired him to write a letter to the show's long-time director, Sharon Kelley, in December 1997.
"Your show inspired me, made me laugh, made me think, and even raised my level of expectations whenever I looked around at things that could make me laugh," Spielberg wrote in part.

I was a child of the Wallace and Ladmo Show. I watched it from when I was a child until I went to the 50th anniversary show at the AZ State Fair. I watched the show and would attend their stage shows. I will miss Wallace aka Wall-boy as Ladmo called him. Somehow AZ seems just a little empty after the passing of Wallace. Wallace starred, and wrote the show. It was a local kid show but it had sophisticated comedy and even some political commentary. Brought a smile to many a kid and adult in Arizona.
Well, to all of those that never saw the show, you really missed something.
Going to miss ya Wallace!
