I-11? 'We don't want it' some residents say

CASA GRANDE — State officials are showcasing the route they’re recommending for a proposed freeway through Pinal County, but not everyone is happy about it.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends building the Interstate 11 freeway west of Interstate 10. The route would cut through Avra Valley, then move south of Casa Grande and snake west of Maricopa up to Buckeye.

But some residents in the rural areas close to this I-11 corridor are not thrilled about the project.

“We don’t need it. We don’t want it,” said Tina Blanchard during a public hearing in Casa Grande on Tuesday.

I don't see any reason for this, other than to enrich some friends of the legiscritters.
