Tornado rips through Arkansas nursing home
MONETTE, Ark. (TND) — Two people were killed and several others were injured after a tornado ripped through a retirement home and the surrounding area in northeast Arkansas Friday night.
The storm left catastrophic damage, uprooting trees, taking the roof off the Monette Manor nursing home and damaging cars in the parking lot.
The owner of the nursing home, Rick Sampson, said the nursing home prepared for the storm by getting residents away from windows and into the hallway. Despite their efforts, one resident was killed in the storm.
“This is almost completely devastated, so I don’t know how it could get much worse," Sampson said.
