Close Call: San Jose City Clerk’s ACE train derailed

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/internal-affairs/2016/03/11/close-call-san-jose-city-clerks-ace-train-derailed/

Authorities said it was “an absolute miracle” no one was killed when an ACE train tumbled off its tracks earlier this week.

It was an even bigger miracle for San Jose City Clerk Toni Taber. She was supposed to be on that train.

“It would have been terrifying and I’m so glad I wasn’t on there,” Taber told IA. “I’m just glad nobody was killed.”

Taber, 44, a Livermore resident, rides the ACE train three days a week to work. But on Monday, the day her usual train struck a downed tree and derailed amid a downpour, Taber decided to drive instead.

Our city clerk has to commute from Livermore (35 miles away)?! This should be a wakeup call. One of our top city officials has been priced out of the city?!

It doesn't mention that in the article. Most of Livermore isn't cheap these days.

It's kind of midway between San Jo and the Central Valley, economically as well as geographically.

I'm not surprised that she takes the ACE train.
