Press Conference to save Jesse Morrow Mountain, central CA. 8/22 10:30am

Wednesday, August 22 • 10:30 a.m.

Please Attend Press Conference; please forward widely:

Mining Jesse Morrow Mountain--The Wrong Plan, The Wrong Site, The Wrong Company •

The Friends of Jesse Morrow Mountain, members of the Choinumni Tribe and College Community Congregational Church will hold a press conference to urge the Fresno County Board of Supervisors to uphold the Planning Commission’s 4-3 decision denying Cemex's request to mine Jesse Morrow Mountain.

Cemex has a long standing history of environmental violations, including breaching the EPA’s Clean Air Act, burning tires to generate energy and illegally dumping hazardous dust, to name a few.

In late May, the Planning Commission voted to deny Cemex's request to mine Jesse Morrow Mountain.

In June, Cemex filed an appeal to the decision. The Board of Supervisors will hear the appeal on August 28 at 9 AM in the County Ballroom at 2220 Tulare (downstairs from Tulare Street). We need you at this hearing too!

Jesse Morrow is endangered and Fresno County residents are at risk.

Not only would mining Jesse Morrow desecrate a land considered sacred by members of the Choinumni Tribe, mining would also threaten our air and water supply.

The Friant-Kern Canal flows right by the base of Jesse Morrow.

Blasting a mountain, to bench mine its resources, is a messy and noisy matter— it would send cycle small particulate matter into our air that the human body cannot filter. Our children already suffer asthma nearly twice the national average.
