California woman's 'selfie fail' allegedly destroys $200,000 worth of art

A woman in Los Angeles has reportedly destroyed $200,000 worth of art after triggering a domino effect while taking a selfie, thought some critics say the video is too perfect to be real.

Security camera footage from the 14th Factory gallery in Lincoln Heights shows the woman crouching down to take a selfie, falling backwards, and knocking over the display pillar behind her triggering a domino effect.

The art on display was the "Hypercaine exhibition," a series of sculptures from Hong Kong artist Simon Birch and other artists.

Gloria Yu, another artist involved in the exhibition, told art site Hyperallergic that three sculptures are damaged beyond repair, and that total damages are estimated to be around $200,000.

However, some are questioning whether the incident was a stunt.

You have general public forced to walk immediately next to, and encouraged to wander around in, a forest of tightly-spaced and unstable structures. The only thing I'd be surprised at is that they only went over once!
