(41,861 posts)Wet towels?
PoindexterOglethorpe
(25,902 posts)Wet towels would tend to add to the problem.
And I know you're being a bit silly with that last.
In any case, I hope you and all out there make it through this heat safely.

(3,163 posts)A 100% cotton undershirt, and a lightweight top garment which can be cotton or artificial fiber. The outer garment keeps the inner one from drying too rapidly.
Want to check th validity of that? Look at what Native Americans and desert Arabs do when it's hot.

(51,630 posts)I taught in a school that was often 95 and I would have to mist the first graders. When the schools were built they never thought it would get so hot. My kids learned how to read a thermometer in C and F. They also learned about the science of weather. I would rather skip the "teachable moments" and have it cooler though. You can not teach or learn in that environment.
This country had better start setting large amounts of money aside for addressing these new weather issues since they are the norm now. We are experiencing climate change NOW (the future is the present) and people need to wake up to this fact.

(3,163 posts)The local fire departments have jumped on them like a duck on a june bug, and none have grown beyond a handful of acres. Pretty awesome performance.
