L.A. County has fewer than 100 ICU beds available

I'm not sure how it's possible, but this unfolding disaster seems like it's being under-reported.

From LA Times: L.A. County has fewer than 100 ICU beds available, with worst still coming, officials say

Intensive care unit beds across Southern California are plummeting to critical levels, with capacity falling to 1% in Ventura County and 0% in Riverside County while Los Angeles County — home to 10 million people — had fewer than 100 beds available.

But the worst of the surge is still to come, experts say. L.A. County has more than 4,400 people hospitalized with COVID-19, and officials said that number could rise to 5,000 by the weekend.

The shortages come as the coronavirus continues to rage across the state. A Los Angeles Times county-by-county tally showed an unprecedented 42,129 cases reported Monday. That number breaks the single-day record set Dec. 8, when 35,400 coronavirus cases were recorded.

L.A. County is so slammed by COVID-19 patients that for certain periods of time on Sunday, 81% of hospitals who receive patients coming from 911 calls were forced to temporarily divert some ambulance patients elsewhere, said Dr. Christina Ghaly, the L.A. County director of health services.

I understand that his actions impact you, just like Democrats in Florida have to deal with the fact a majority voted in a Piece Of Shit Governor.

I'm sorry, but things will probably never change in his district, and you're stuck with him being a neighbor. You may not deserve it, but you're going to keep getting it.

Democrats have run some Highly Intelligent candidates against him, and still lose by 10+%. Unfortunately, he's not going anywhere.

I have lived and worked here for 35 years. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine finding out my community is full of fascist anti-American assholes. I would love to move away from here but at this point, If I leave my employer, I will lose 14 years of service time. The sad thing in Nunes NEVER visits this community unless he's here to collect money from the farmers they bribe with the farm bill. If If I live to retirement age, I will move to a community that reflects my values.

I had donated to the Janz campaign, and was really hoping that even without a victory, it would at least be close. So disappointing. Then the same happened this year.

Really don't know how it will change, so long as the #'s in his district remain the same. The guy could take a picture next to Putin, and his poll #'s still wouldn't decline.

Some of these people have too much power and too much money behind them. From McConnell to Graham to Gaetz to Jordan to Nunes.....they can get away with anything! Very depressing.

Health Officer is issuing directives which the Sheriff is refusing to enforce and the Board of Supervisors encourages the public to go about business as usual. It's madness. And we're all being held hostage by it.
