canal (and other stuff) to deliver water into an area of the state that didn't have enough water resources to support the population. Las Vegas is like that too. The state's real estate is in high demand, people want to live in Sunny California. Also, there are tons of jobs out here in Calif., in all kinds of industries. Thus, demand is high for real estate, living spaces, and other resources associated w/ living in Calif. Demand is also driven by an influx of population coming into the state to look for jobs.
