However, gop is playing by the rules. Dems had supermajority in CA for quite some time, yet no changes to the recall process were pushed through. It makes precisely zero sense that Newsoms name is absent from question 2. If Elder wins, he will have gigantic emergency power over the entire state.

But I agree that the recall rules need to be changed. And while they're at it the legislature can pass a law requiring a same-party candidate to replace an outgoing senator.
