Fresno County ballot drop box key left unsecured, prompting security overhaul
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A key used to access ballot drop boxes in Fresno County was found unsecured at a Ballot Drop Box located at Fancher Creek Elementary School on Thursday, according to the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters Department.
The person who found the key returned it to the department.
Fresno County Clerk James A. Kus said, "We do appreciate that the member of the public after seeing that the key was there, did secure that key."
The ballot at that particular location was last serviced by election staff at 10 a.m. that day.
