Mission (SF) voter turnout numbers so far trounce prior years

http://blog.sfgate.com/inthemission/2014/11/04/mission-voter-turnout-numbers-so-far-trounce-prior-years/

Poll attendants at several Mission polling sites said voter turnout was good this year, with several sites at or approaching 50 percent turnout by early afternoon and blowing numbers from the 2010 midterm election out of the water.

Gary Huang, who was helping to run the polling site at Valencia Gardens, said the turnout had reached around half by shortly after noon, with 558 ballots counted on the machine out of around 1,000 voters registered there. Huang added that this doesn’t include mail-in ballots, which are counted separately. Valencia Gardens’ total voter turnout during the 2010 midterm elections was just barely above this afternoon’s ballot count, reaching just 54 percent even with mail-in ballots.

Let's hope this trend holds statewide and nationwide!

Of course, gentrification could be a factor: techies are more "likely voters" than the Latin@s who have lived there longer.
