Wesleyan University Revokes Bill Cosby's Honorary Degree
Wesleyan University voted to revoke comedian Bill Cosby's honorary degree Friday during a Board of Trustees meeting.
“Wesleyan’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to revoke Bill Cosby’s honorary degree, which Wesleyan awarded in 1987,” the school announced in a statement released by Lauren Rubenstein, manager of media and public relations at the Middletown school.
The decision comes after a jury found Cosby, 80, guilty in April on three accounts of aggravated indecent assault in a case in which he was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a Temple University employee 14 years ago.
The Wesleyan Board of Trustees began considering the decision in late April and voted unanimously in favor of revoking the degree that had been awarded in 1987.
