Summer today, spring tomorrow. Temperatures jumped above 80 degrees today for only the third time this month. That warmth is short-lived, though, as a backdoor cold front sweeps through the region tonight, possibly triggering a few stray showers. But it mostly ensures we stay cloudy and cool on Sunday.

(45,435 posts)I was at the mall earlier enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, masking the whole time. There were plenty of people out but enough space to social distance.
My farmer's market was open today with an OpenTable reservation system or pickup only.

(130,895 posts)I lived and worked nearby for 20 years, used to walk from apartment in SW to office @ Constitution + 14th, and walked to Cherry Blossoms from the office!

(86,586 posts)forcing me to go out half dressed and cover a bunch of stuff in the garden. Switched to rain for a while but will go back to snow when the temp drops again. Got up to a whopping +38F and the day is pretty much shot.
For snow we got about 5 inches of wet slop, the driveway is a small lake and the mountains are covered from peak to base. Supposed to be in the 70+ by Monday/Tuesday.

There's a big bob of swirling cold that came straight down from Canada and when it moves on by Monday, It's looking like it will hit the gulf heat and big storms are predicted, particularly in the Texas area. I watched a number of observations last night and the motion is so powerful and the air mass so large that it is forcing a warm stream of air from the central Pacific southward. the conjunction of the two masses is driving a the backspin motion of the cold air. This is also causing the eastern half of the state to be rather warm while in the western mountains, it's a bit of winter for a few days, while we're trying to get our gardens going for a short growing season... also known as springtime in the Rockies.
I've already had a nap, think I'll have some soup.
