Has Keiser University brought themselves a State Senator?

Recent activity in Tallahassee included State Senator Joe Negron (R-Vero/Jupiter) odd campaign against the audacity of the state college network to offer (gasp!) Baccalaureate degrees. Particularly curious about Negron's quest is that he represents an area from Vero Beach to Jupiter that is poorly served by the state University network. It should be noted that I referred to the State University network and not the several for-profit "universities" that ply the educational revenue waters of the area. Funny also, is that Negron is heavily supported by Big Sugar's Fanjul family which may help to explain Negron's reluctance to buy the land south of Lake Okeechobee from Big Sugar - thereby helping to solve the pollution issue from the Lake's discharges to the St. Lucie estuary; but I digress.
Add in Negron's association with Keiser College's owner, Art Keiser, and ladies and gentlemen we have a investigation. Sadly, but typical for the current politics in Florida, Negron sits on the Education Committee in Tallahassee!
It seems that no State University official has gone on record to complain against the State College four-year degree programs, but Keiser has - four times out of the seven on record. Do we see a pattern here?!
In my opinion, Joe Negron has revealed himself to be an enemy of the very people who elected him. Negron exists as the lowest form of politician who sold himself to the highest bidders.

"For the past two legislative sessions, state Sen. Joe Negron has waged an inexplicable and unnecessary battle against Florida's state college system. On Thursday, the Stuart Republican, a member of the Higher Education Committee, announced a compromise. The conditions, however, could rightfully be viewed as terms of surrender — by the colleges."

1. His wife is on the Martin County Board of Education.

How she got there:
An incumbent board member who was expected to run unopposed for reelection walked into the Supervisor of Elections office a half hour before the filing deadline and filed to run for Superintendent instead. She brought Mrs. Negron with her and Mrs. Negron filed for the now vacant seat and was able to run unopposed. She has since been reelected- also unopposed. She has been pushing an anti-union, "good Christian" agenda...

About Joe:
He has a lot of support from big ag. His day job is working as a lawyer for Gunster- which also represents U.S. Sugar. He is currently the only prominent Republican talking about using a significant amount of Amendment 1 money for land purchases. I think it's a calculated attempt to receive credit for a pro-environmental stance while doing too little too late. I've seen him fight on other water-related issues where he was allowed to win...and the timing and relish was very different.

Last I heard, Negron was backing off the purchases in favor of waiting on yet another study, this time out of UF.
His ridiculous state college hissyfit appears to be directed at one of the better performing state colleges located right in the middle of Negron's district: Indian River, Keiser College's nemesis.
It's unbelievable, isn't it? This guy works for Gunster and his wife gets in unopposed - just beautiful!
Too bad the local papers don't have the balls to investigate this cretin.

Negron used it as an excuse to be noncommittal before the legislative session. After the house and senate both came out with budgets that used virtually no money for land purchases, he started making noise about using up to $500 million of Amendment 1 money for that purpose- without saying that any of it would be dedicated to buying the option land from U. S. Sugar. The Medicaid/LIP budget standoff probably makes his proposal a non-starter and, as former budget chief, he surely knows what to expect.
