Former Jacksonville Transportation Authority manager pleads guilty to grand theft, stealing $400,000
A former Jacksonville Transportation Authority manager pleaded guilty last month to two felony grand theft counts after stealing almost $400,000 in agency money by transferring it into his own accounts.
A judge sentenced Robert Franques, who was a project manager at JTA , to six years in state prison followed by 10 years of probation.
Franques, who earned an annual salary of $100,075, transferred the money into personal accounts during real estate transactions in which he was representing JTA.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is grateful to the State Attorneys office for ensuring that justice was served in this matter, according to a statement from the agency. The JTA takes stewardship of public funds seriously and has taken steps to further strengthen its safeguards accordingly. The JTA has been made whole.
