Non-political question for Florida DUers. Dog friendly road trip destinations.

For those who have dogs, where in Florida have you found a nice weekend getaway where you can take the dogs? Thinking of renting an RV just for mini-weekend trips inside the state and hoping to find open areas that the dogs can get a chance to run. Interested in hiking trails, and oceanside destinations that are dog friendly. Any recommendations?

Also, information on areas that should be avoided would also be of interest.

Best bet is to stick with the State Parks, https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/. While there might be a National Park or two, Everglades, Canaveral (nps.org) you'll find more State Parks available. I do know several do offer the ability to bring along your dogs, and even camp with them as well. Most of the individual Parks will have information concerning whether you can camp or hike with you Pets.

Simple fact that State of Florida is so large, not knowing where you're heading, impossible to say in general if all of your destinations will accept your 4 legged friend. Will say this, the State Parks website does allow for reserving a site in advance, if you do know of your dates, best to start reserving now, some of the more popular Parks fill up fast.

Good Luck

And we have some cool ones. Try some of the Fresh Water Springs. You won't be disappointed.

DOG-FRIENDLY PARKS IN FLORIDA
Why should humans have all the fun at Florida’s parks? It's a dog's favorite activity: running free with their fellow canines.

By Saundra Amrhein
Florida offers numerous off-leash dog parks where dogs can burn off steam and make new friends. Be sure to follow posted park rules – which invariably insist that dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and play well with others. And, bring some extra water to keep your hounds hydrated in Florida’s year-round heat, in case the park you visit has no water fountains or stations.

So while we have so much cray cray here down in Broward in so many other aspects of our lives, especially political, we do love our dogs! Here is a link to things to do and places to go with your dog.
