UCF sorority suspended after member reports group chat about drinking, sharing IDs
The University of Central Florida has suspended a sorority chapter after a member reported a string of group chat messages where her sisters mentioned drinking, sharing IDs and paying others to complete assignments and included a photo of a person lying next to a toilet.
Alpha Delta Pi was suspended July 15 after the university accused the group of a slew of allegations, including committing alcohol- and drug-related misconduct, violating laws and providing false or misleading information. The sorority will have to temporarily stop chapter functions while the suspension is in place.
The messages came to the universitys attention July 9 after a sorority member who was studying in Paris contacted a UCF instructor there about her concerns.
Alpha Delta Pis national chapter is aware of the allegations, said Beth Wright, the senior director of marketing and communications for the organization.
