It is posturing. I live near the junction of Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Yesterday, my wife and I went for a Sunday Drive, I crossed the Fl./Ga. line at three different places. I never saw a cop on a 70 mile drive.

It appears that our brilliant governor, has selected two roads to put his "check points" on. There are hundreds of roads that cross state line. (our Northern border is 400 miles wide) The Governor waited way too long to start reasonable actions to control outbreak, so now he is trying to look like he is doing something positive. He is trying to get people's minds off of his Spring break disaster.

He's a fucking idiot, it's already here and spreading and this won't fix it. Testing would help immensely, but repugs don't want that because it will show they created this mess through by sticking their head in the sand and saying no damn virus will hit us Muricans!

DeSantis is conditioning them to believe that to cover his abject failure. It's the other thing that Rs always play. He played the Trump game and his state is gonna pay.

on I-10 near the AL line and apparently near the GA line on 95 & 75 as well.

Here's some footage of what they were doing yesterday near Pensacola;
https://www.wavy.com/video/florida-law-enforcement-checkpoints-at-alabama-florida-border/4437355/

The above footage was included in this post in DU from yesterday;
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100213194725

In which I said;

The footage in your link is of a permanent truck weigh station at mile marker 2 on I-10 just west of Pensacola.

And it is clear in the footage that trucks are still using the PrePass system (they are passing the station at speed, on the highway) and they are also crossing the static scale on the north side of the scale house.

The lanes shown where the cars are crossing are on the south side of the scale house, the left hand side is the #2 static scale and the other lane is a bypass lane.

So...even though I guess you could say this is a "checkpoint", it doesn't seem too intrusive and it is for the greater public health.

Frankly, I expect to see more of this nationwide.

And FWIW, MOST of the highways entering Florida have at least an agricultural check station, if not a weigh station also, so for those that think this is easy to get around, yeah, it probably is. For now.

There are so many small roads, no truly motivated person would be stopped by this. More RR lies and nonsense to hide the truth - that is all they have.
