Three men convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery to be sentenced Friday
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WTGS) Travis McMichael, his father Greg McMichael and their neighbor William "Roddie" Bryan Jr., who are the three men found guilty for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, will appear in court on Friday for sentencing.
The conviction charges carry a life sentence in prison. Chatham County Judge Timothy Walmsley will make the decision if that sentence comes with the chance of parole.
Even though its a life sentence, in the state of Georgia that means 30 years and whatever time is added on top of that; but then given their ages, they will potentially be available to seek parole, said Chad Posick, GSU Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Criminology.
The McMichaels and Bryan Jr. have also been charged with hate crime and kidnapping on a federal level.
