Judge Overturns Illinois Order Restricting Union Dues

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A judge has issued an order requiring Illinois government agencies to immediately reinstate mandatory union dues for nonmembers.
Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner last month issued an executive order ending the dues, which nonmembers must pay to cover the cost of non-political union activities that benefit all employees.
Friday’s order by St. Clair County Associate Judge Christopher Kolker requires the Rauner administration to “remit fair share fees … pending the resolution of the case” and to transmit “the correct payroll information” regarding gross pay for affected employees to Illinois’ comptroller. The order is based on an agreement between the administration and unions.
Unions have filed a lawsuit seeking to permanently overturn Rauner’s order.

which is focusing on beating back Rauner's agenda?

I ask, because now that I'm done (for awhile) with national politics,

I'd like to focus on state politics -- I did do work for Quinn and our local

candidate, Dennis Anderson, and was sick when Rauner won --

but I'd like to help any group who's focusing on stopping his lousy agenda.

Thanks.

who is your state senator and state rep?
if they are thugs, you might tap into some of the chicago ones. i know greg harris, kelly cassidy and robyn gabel are all working on blocking this crap.
and lou lang.

10th dems is pretty strong, i think. tho i wish schneider was not running again. dupage dems are okay, too.
then there is tammy.

My reps are both thugs, yes, so I will absolutely take your suggestions.

You're right about the Tenth, and I know a lot of people there...Last night

I went to dinner with a friend and she tipped me off to something I can

definitely get involved in, and that's the fact of Rauner holding meetings

in all the different 'burbs trying to get consensus on "right to work zones"

and local dems are being called on to attend, something I'll be happy

to do.

Thanks again, Mo.

My guess is 90 percent of them are Republicans, who eventually fake out a major disability right before retiring for the easy money and then coast into Medicare and Social Security... all the while complaining about others sucking on the government's teat.

Republicans generally come from the District Attorney's office where they spent their time locking people up. They won their first election running on their conviction record and being "tough on crime".

Democrats come from the Public Defenders Office where they defend those charged with crimes. They won their first election with a "I'll fight for you" platform.

Both sides tend to bring that adversarial relationship in to DC. Republicans look at Dems as being a bunch of slimeballs defending slimeballs. Republicans are also fixated on "tort reform" and that one blemish on their conviction record where the guy "got off on a technicality".

TV has shifted to the Right.

Not too long ago the courtroom shows stared a defense attorney or team. (Perry Mason, Matlock, L.A. Law, etc...)

Now it's all from the perspective of the authorities.

We went from cheering for the "Not Guilty" verdict to cheering for the "Guilty" verdict.
