Illinois lawmakers designate October 'Zombie Preparedness Month'

Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Illinois lawmakers are encouraging the state to be undead-ready by passing a resolution declaring October to be "Zombie Preparedness Month."

The state House voted Thursday to approve House Resolution 0030, which calls for October to be declared "Zombie Preparedness Month" as a bid to encourage the state's residents to be prepared for more realistic natural disasters.

"If the citizens of Illinois are prepared for zombies, than they are prepared for any natural disaster; while a Zombie Apocalypse may never happen, the preparation for such an event is the same as for any natural disaster," the resolution reads.

"I am told that if you are prepared for zombies, then you would be prepared to deal with a natural disaster like tornadoes, blizzards -- natural disasters of any kind," Rep. Emanuel Chris Welch, D-Hillside, told the Chicago Tribune.

I'm actually beginning to think that Texas may be "normal". At least you are close to Canada though.

Maybe I should program the GPS on my phone now, just in case, so I'm prepared...

and snow tires on my vehicle if we traded places. Changing my south Texas drawl will be the difficult part so that I'm not recognized as a foreigner.

I took French in school rather than Spanish or Latin, made the most sense because we hear it a lot around here during the tourist season. My Dad was a great traveler, visited more countries than I can think of right now, but one of his favorite destinations was Ottawa, relatively to get to by car. And it is a fairly international city.

But of course you're much closer to Mexico. As others have said here, if Trump goes on as he has, he's going to have to build a wall on both borders - to keep the Americans in...

I am in hopes that Missouri will follow suit with their own legislation on this "vital" issue.

since your state didn't prepare for the living dead!

Missouri should check with Trump to see if they can get their own wall.

Perhaps there is still time to act. I will contact my State Legislators and the Governor, this really does seem right up their alley...Particularly our "wonderful new governor. "

You have exceedingly high expectations if you think that your representatives are going to accomplish anything while they are in session.
