While the MHI closings aren't a federal issue, Ernst says the issue is of great concern to her constituents.

"I was a county auditor when it was either the Vilsack or Culver administration tried to close some of the mental health facilities, also," said Ernst. "So, it is not a partisan issue.
Democrats do it too but I'm not sure which ones.
