he vetoed two labor bills that he had promised to support. That + the whole 2010 atmosphere.
Branstad always loved the limelight, even though his wife hates it.
Repubs had NO other real viable candidate (the crazy Bob VanderPlaats). Branstad barely beat him in the primary.
Iowans forget easily - we are easy going and forgiving - so the shit job that Branstad did was forgotten.
And of course the media loved him.
So we got him again and a nutcase bagger Lt. Governor named Kim Reynolds. She had 2 years in the legislature I think.

No one wants to follow someone who flip flops. No one wants to stand behind someone who is going to pull the rug out from under you. Yeah, Culver blew it. I hope the Dems realize now that they must stand on their principles, and BE principled.

And I hope whoever runs for Governor in 2014 it's some hard, pipe hitting liberal from the east side who will go down to Des Moines and go medieval (in a political sense) on the Republicans.
