Moving up on the ol' enemies list

My letter got published the other day;

We’ve had so many incidents of people in the United States using guns against others that have no other purpose beyond mutilating the human body and causing injury or death. We hear of children being killed by guns. We hear of the devastation gun violence does to families and communities. We hear of the ordeals shooting survivors face. But we don’t do a thing about the problem.

The Republican majority in Congress refuse to do much of anything to stop the carnage. They blocked legislation that would’ve stopped the Orlando shooter from buying weapons legally then claim background checks don’t work. They’ve blocked the CDC from treating gun violence as a public health crisis. People like President Obama and Pope Francis have both spoken out against such violence and called for reasonable solutions to gun violence and are called all sorts of vile names and accused of all manner of evil.

Nice letter. Do you expect frothing rebuttals from any local curmudgeons? n/t xocet Jul 2016 #1

It wouldn't surprise me if the anonymous mail harasser of Dubuque sends me a postcard.

Although my last two letters I didn't get anything at all. I think the article might've scared him off but if he thinks the heat is off that might change. I hope he knows that instead of his rantings going on a one way trip to file 13 like it has in the past it'll be going down to the sheriff's department instead this time around.

It forces one to imagine the effort that would produce such a volume of postcards.

Since the primary suspect is apparently a former police captain with anger/frustration/etc. issues significant enough that he be "ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation", one might also want to address his access to firearms if that has not already been done.

Hopefully with the number of cases open against him one of us will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and encourages the prosecutor to grow a set and actually do something about this guy.
