2. It's a good thing yes, but KY Dems are a strange mix

Ther are huge swathes of "generational Democrats" left over from the Dixiecrat era who are further right than most Republicans, especially on social issues, have never voted for a Dem president in their life, but retain their great granddaddy's party ties. Kimmy demonstrated the breed most publicly and recently, only switching her inherited party allegiance after being shamed into it and essentially spurned by the political Dems. There are plenty in the state house much like her still though.
