Steady growth seen in medical marijuana use
By Kay Lazar Globe Staff October 24, 2015

Norton Arbelaez has met some unusual people in his six years working in the medical marijuana industry, but one patient who gingerly walked into New England Treatment Access in Northampton, the latest marijuana dispensary to open in Massachusetts, took him by surprise.

The patient was seeking relief from gnawing foot pain, a pain the man said had plagued him for 70 years.

“I was really blown away when this older gentleman walked in and he described to me his experience in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II,” said Arbelaez, New England Treatment’s consultant for standards and practices. “His feet froze during that battle (in the winter of 1944), and he said he found a lot of relief from medical cannabis products.”

While the medical benefit of marijuana continues to be hotly debated nationwide, one picture coming into sharper focus in Massachusetts is the burgeoning number of patients seeking cannabis products.

He suffered from painful feet his whole life. Bbbbbut they (you know who they are) refused to admit that cannabis has any medical uses.

My hearing is less than stellar due to a rather large explosion when the Chu Lai ammo dump went BOOM! the first night of Tet68.

I've been getting the (old people) mail to get new hearing aids for years.

A friend of mine told to me to list everything bad before I went to the VA. My list included hearing, no night vision, bad back, bad hip, bad knee, etc. etc.

The first thing the VA fixed was my eyes - cataract surgery. Then they gave me hearing aids. About eight or nine weeks after I signed up with them I received a letter from the VA telling me they tried to contact me at my home of record with no luck (I had moved to Boston in April 1973). I had been awarded a 30% disability on my back backdated to April 1973.

I took that VA letter down to the canna docs and received my MA Medical Marijuana Card.

I went up to the Salem dispensary on the second week they opened and picked up a 1/4 oz of two different flavors. The MA MM stuff works - my back literally untwisted about 10 minutes after initial application. It's high on CBDs and has zero, repeat zero THC.

One place he contacted said it would cost $300. That seems like a lot. How much did it cost you?
